Shoes Make The Dancer Actually that's not 100% true because if you're an incredible dancer, you can dance whatever shoe you wear. But people say it because it just feels great to wear the right shoes when you learn how to dance. Trust us! "Now that I've tried them, I really wish I got my shoes much earlier. It gives me a lot of control and more confidence to dance!" - A Salsa "Beginner 1" student. As you take dance classes, proper dance shoes will really give you good support, and help you develop better footwork and movement. We strongly recommend dance shoes from San Lee Shoes. Alternatively, there are other shoe shops. Check out our Recommended Shoe Shops. "They are so friendly at San Lee, with a great catalogue and new selections everytime I go. The shoes are so comfortable, I even made a walking shoe for everyday use!" - A Salsa "Improver" student. With good care and constant use, most Salsa shoes last many many years. Avoid walking on the street as the suede bottoms are designed for use on a dry, clean floor. Ask your Instructors how to brush your shoe bottoms!"I customized a shoe with my own design, and after convincing the shoe maker, I got my dream shoe! And it costs me a few RM more only! I think I'll make a new pair this week..." - A Salsa "Intermediate" student. Havana Estudio Endorses FlashDance™ Shoes For dancers, having a shoe that fits well is as important as choosing a good dance school to learning how to dance well. Since 2005, Havana Estudio has consistently endorsed San Lee Shoes as the best place to get your dance shoes in Kuala Lumpur. Our instructors and student dancers all use FlashDance™ shoes during regular weekly dancing in our studio, dance clubs in the Klang Valley, and even at international performances and weddings. They not only make Salsa, Tango, Jazz, Standard, Latin, and all your ballroom or practice shoes but also boots and walking shoes, too. The shoemakers really take pride in their work, and put a lot of care and thought into making each shoe for each dancer. If you ask for advice, they will recommend appropriate designs for your foot type. If you don’t find something you fancy off the rack, they allow custom-made shoes, ready within one to two weeks of your order. You get to choose from a catalog of designs and material like satin, leather, PVC, etc. Some adventurous Salsa dancers have customised their own designs, some good designs of which are made available in their store. The price is affordable, and they customise shoes for a reasonable price. Fitting your feet correctly to a dance shoe is an art. They will either get you to try a shoe off the rack or take measurement of your feet the correct way. There is no substitute for experience from a specialist. All good dancers know to brush their shoes after every use to keep the suede bottom clean, while some competitors brush after and before using their shoes. For those of you who really do not want to part with your dance shoes, they easily replace suede bottoms, or repair your shoes at a reasonable price. Most Salsa dancers enjoy the freedom of custom-made shoes and usually end up buying at least another shoe in a vibrant or cool color, to complement their clothes and dance fashion. San Lee also sells accessories like shoe bags, shoe brushes, ladies stockings, insoles, and when asked, can give you good advice for shoe care. For a dancer, a good shoe maker is an essential arsenal for your dancing, and for Havana Estudio, San Lee Shoes not only give us consistently good shoes, but they are great people to have as friends. San Lee Shoes is located at No 11 Jalan Midah, Taman Midah, Cheras, and about 20 minutes from Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka. For English speaking customers, please ask for Christine at 03-9130-3236. - Sam and Aisha, Directors of Havana Estudio, Kuala Lumpur, on 21 st July 2007. |
